16000 – 45K Words per day

Too Many Words
A recent study had people carry around a small automatic tape recorder that went on randomly as the day went on. The study revealed that people use about 16,000 words in a 17 hour day while some people use anywhere up to 47000 words a day. Every day, all around us are the effects of our words whether written, spoken or sang. Words are so powerful and thus we have come to accept them as the only way we can communicate what we mean and yes we do have a lot say.

Words are the easiest way humans communicate whether speaking, writing or singing. Word!!

‘Social Media and Words

An image is worth a thousand words – F.R Barnard.

From phone booths to land phones to mobile phone smartphones and then social media and char apps. With the rise of Social media platforms within the last decade, Humans may have successfully lessened the average words spoken per day, but we have increased the total number of words written, commenting, chatting, blogging and trolling on the internet. Words have proven to be the best way of communicating simply because of the ease to document and store, ease of conversion from one language to another. Effective communication whether in discovering ourselves, describing things, building relationships, influence others, words are the most important yet underrated element in Human life.

Journalism and Words

Mainstream media is the biggest repository of Word until the internet. Although Social media hacked mainstream media with personal content publishing writing for media and professional journalism is still sacred and prestigious. The difference between social media content and journalism content is Backstory. In Journalism, words are strung together with usefulness towards a dramatic revelation. Great journalists have mastered the different techniques including flashbacks, dialogue, direct narration, summary, recollection, and exposition. Take away this mastery and another Troll is birthed.

Troll and Words

The Journalist, the Troll all use words. In simple language, a troll is basically an irresponsible journalist stroking hatred and giving cover for debauchery, immoral & corrupt acts. Using Powerful words like the authentic Journalist, but breaking down true democracy and the troll is the direct opposite. Whether it is a simple five to ten-word quote or an article or even a 200-page book. Great Journalism is not 16000 or 47000 words. It is a great story that enlightens, educates, inspire and promotes awareness of the current affairs of a Geopolitical region.

On getting to San Francisco City to San Francisco I had a very great experience on the airport. The air was smelling like ice cream. I thought maybe really good. I have to call my family to show them how beautiful San Francisco was looking. Can I go to Uber? And I came all the way to Brisbane. It’s a beautiful small City on the Hills. I’ve never seen a city as beautiful as this. very very nice people  Disney Picture of kulture Greek food. I love food. I’m having an amazing time in San Francisco. I can’t wait to see the rest of the city. peso

One Year in the life of an Entrepreneur

Hard work and smart work combined with long hours is a typical day of an entrepreneur. Setting far-reaching goals that can only be on the two extreme ends on the spectrum of achievement. These being either Break or Make. Pushing the acceptable limits of the human mind, out of safe zone & boundaries, leaving the entrepreneur outside the boundaries of sanity. Arguably a reason why most entrepreneurs suffer from social and communication skills.

The Idea
So you have an Idea, OK,  Who doesn’t have one? Ideas!  everyone has one these days and it is a good thing but the truth is ideas are worthless until you convert them into goals and objectives. One then needs to develop strategies in line with the objective(s) and outline different tactics and actionable steps that will drive progress towards those goals. The Idea stage is the sweetest spot to be, it is the beginning, It is that moment before God said “Tulkoon Valo!”.
It is the phase where nothing is at stake. It is the cheapest because it is just a dream phase. No tangible investment has gone in. This is why everyone can afford, to have a Gazillion of ideas. But since We are not God, our success requires more than the declaration “Let there be light!”

The Drive
Your drive is the unquantifiable inner metric of the person, this is the main determinant of progress, Drive is fire while passion is the flame. This is the difference between the average joe with an idea and the real entrepreneur who is constantly progressing. This is the one trait and by far the most underrated trait that makes a person with an idea possesses before launching into the deep. It is the single trait that fuels the Leap of Faith, it is the single trait that makes every Zuckerberg, every Musk, every Larry Ellison, every Steve Jobs to risk it all.
Take it or leave it, Drive is everything. If you have an idea, without that drive you are no different from your neighbor, who also has tons of ideas as well. In a lifetime, everyone will have between 10,000 – 100,000 Ideas maybe more. Without drive, one continues to cycle around in the Idea land.

The Hustle
The Hustle begins when something is at stake. It could be your money, your family, your relationship, your reputation, your savings, your home, your sanity, your health or anything you consider a valuable currency.  However, there is a good hustle and there is the bad hustle, and between them is a fine line. Most people crossed this line with the mindset “the end justifies the means”.

The hustle is everything you must do to make things work. It is everything you must do to progress. It is everything that indicates progress, it is where your emotions begin to vest, it is all forms of work you put in. It is the point where you are dying to have those little wins to show and celebrate progress, It is the 500 meetings and request you sent out to potential partners, clients, investors, and all forms stakeholders, It is the technicality you are hoping to deliver under intense pressure, it is all kinds of push, pull, drag and roll in every direction to ensure you are one more step closer.

The hustle is you lying in bed for 8 hours but only get 2hours of sleep because your mind won’t stop racing in virtual reality. With few bucks left in your account and you have become a tenant in your own apartment because all of a sudden Airbnb is the only source of livelihood or food delivery, combined with driving for uber and whatnots. The hustle is selling cookies on weekends so you can continue to be an entrepreneur Monday – Friday back to back, hoping to build a successful scalable startup. While waiting for the first positive response from all of your 500+ requests, cold emails and calls sent weeks or months earlier.

The Rejections

3 Months later you are counting, 489 rejections, and not a single positive response. This is it!  You have finished your savings, maxed out your credit card, looking the mirror and your smile is gone, you are looking again and you are like “nobody gives a fuck about me!”.

You are angry but you can still keep your cool. You’ve gone to all the events there is, from freezing cold Helsinki’s Slush to hell hot San Francisco’s tech disrupt, met amazing people who smiled as they connected with you on LinkedIn, handed one another all kinds of business cards, everyone trying to sell themselves to one another and then you receive more business cards.
A wild west, maybe not. Then the after-parties and then more connections. LinkedIn data can easily be used to plot heat maps on the connection buttons and how it’s correlated to business events and conferences around the world. (A fucking Viral strategy that will continue to reign supreme).

The Fear

Conferences over and then comes a rain of follow up emails, teleconference requests, and even more cold calls to and from your newest connections, this might be the first time you finally get a followup action with a promise of a potential result, but somehow you soon realize most of it is a dead end. It’s dawned on you, you’re dead broke, rejections on horizontal and vertical connections. Fear creeps in.

And Out of the blue, an email sent from a potential lead you met 5 months ago vibrates your  phone asking you to a meeting, instantaneously you are in euphoria and yes, yes, ok, yes, right ………to-be-continued

One year in the Life of an Entrepreneur Episode II

An original is always worth more than a copy – Suzy Kasseem.
The Fear

Congratulations! you accepted the meeting. It’s scheduled for one hour and you are going to be in the room with a C-Suite business executive seating on a portfolio worth billions. He probably has at least a decade years of experience in arranging and attending various kinds of meeting. And again Fear relegates your excitement and you start wondering what or how is the meeting going to turnout. You ask around for advice, ok but the fear grows. The truth is the only person who can give an accurate hint is that person you will be meeting(Shoot him an email to clarify anything prior to the meeting). There is no amount of book that one can read to eliminate fear.

So giving attention to fear is a waste of time. Fear is a given, a constant that lurks around and it is known to cripple progress. Fear is you, spitting a 1000 ideas per day, and instead of focusing on one idea, one talks about it forever with no execution. Fear is you in that conference and not engaging that other person in a conversation, fear is you not taking that online course to jumpstart your business, or choosing that pleasurable moment over the painstaking steps that may bring you closer to your dreams.

Fear is you not asking that executive on lunch, coffee or that person seating next to you at Slush, TechCrunch, Web summit or that local tech event about an intro to a small partner, or not asking that Google fellow for an intro to Google-for-startup teams. Fear is you not saying this is my proposal, or I will forward you a proposal or saying let’s close on this note and ” I will send a proposal so we can begin negotiation or close a deal, I am confident working together will yield a groundbreaking result”.
Feel the fear and do it anyway, a great book by Susan Jeffers. No one needs a therapist for fear. So Feel the fear but go on to do that thing.

Anxiety

Anxiety is the offspring of fear, and many entrepreneur are suffering from Anxiety. Too often Anxiety is a killer.  it is dangerous,  it is the breaking point and an inflection point as well.  This is where personalities change. People think its money or success that change successful entrepreneurs. Nope! It is Anxiety. Those who triumph rides on to victory with the feeling of “I am a phoenix” and those who don’t are crushed under its heels.

This is the battlefront of Entrepreneurship. Leave out anxiety and the rest is Fun.  Anxiety explains every negative energy one can think of.  Hence the rise in Yoga, meditation and alternative spirituality in the startup ecosystem. Sadly there are great entrepreneurs who ended with stories that touch.

“If you are at this phase, please reach out for help!  See a therapist, do Yoga, fall in love, do a road trip by yourself and meet new people or do any of the other 146 things that is totally far from your normal.” For me, I read a few pages from KJV and that always reset me

Anxiety is when Drive doesn’t trigger passion. One is Pushing through wondering what is missing. You do it but cannot feel it. The fire burns but there is no flame. Every food in one’s mouth tastes like Gazpacho. This is it. Anxiety if not dealt with can lead to many ills, to include depression, addiction, and perversion, poor decision making, social media addiction, depression, and many other ills. Seek help!

Now it is 12 months and scar tissues. Some say if an entrepreneur survives first 24months then he has a chance, If a company survives it first 4 years then it stands a chance. However, there one trait,  the single determinant of who or what survives. Triumph to victory is all about this one trait. It is the master trait, this is what makes the outstanding entrepreneur. It is called several names but whichever name you prefer…..to be continued in Episode III

Climate change: Be concerned

 The end of the beginning
It’s about time for us to start to take the coming climate apocalypse serious. The damage will be colossal. It will be something before. The strangest summer temperatures of all-time were experienced in this last summer of the year 2019.  Where do we go from here? We may pretend that this is not any of our business. Actually, It is.

 The marginal increase

This boat has sailed. We are experiencing a marginal change in the way. Our life is going to be complicated. Life on Earth will never be the same. While the fossil culprits and the likes can teleport themselves to the next livable planets and never have to worry about the impact of climate change on posterity.

 Doomsday

This is the beginning of the end as we see it. Whether we like it or not. But he’s in too late. We can fix it. We can’t all this evil around. Can be a marginal turn around in the right direction. Taking baby steps towards a more sustainable planet Earth.

And the truth remains that the future will be very kind to us – Olamijojo
